Christmas is Getting Near

Alright guys, it seems that Christmas is knocking on us once again. And if you'll ask me how I feel, I'd definitely say, this holiday season is the best ever to celebrate every year. I can even imagine how the whole family will celebrate this special holiday. And I fervently wish that they would be willing to celebrate Christmas at home.

I might even give my mom a call later today to invite her to come and celebrate Christmas here at home. Of course, my youngest brother must tag along with her. I am not sure if dad can tag along with them. But I would be very much happy if all of them will be with us on Christmastime. If grannies come over as well, I'll have to start looking for a tea to serve them so they will feel comfortable amidst the coldness of the season.

The Christmas celebration will surely be a blast if the whole family joined together in baking the newest favorite in every occasion we celebrate, a fruit cake. The kids may even join in this family day activity by helping out in making Christmas crackers. Isn't it an exciting event to organize for the whole family? I really can't wait for Christmas to come!

Take Good Care of Your iPads

If you own an iPad, then you probably want to keep it protected. Surely, you wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on a gadget you don't even plan to take care of. You need to think about how to protect its exterior. You need to consider screen protection. Of course, you also have to think about how to prevent it from getting stolen. Here are some tips on how to protect your iPad:

1. Buy a case.

After purchasing the actual gadget, your next step should be purchasing a protective case for it. A protective case will help prevent any scratches from appearing on the iPad's exterior. It also serves as extra padding when you and your iPad are in transit. You can choose to get a hard shell case for it or you can choose to get a rubber sleeve. There are plenty of different kinds of cases for electronic gadgets.

Since the iPad is a relatively new toy, there aren't a whole lot of cases specifically made for this particular device yet. If you can't find something that's the perfect fit for your iPad, then make the extra effort to look for a more generic case that's about the right size.

2. Get a screen protector.
What actually makes the iPad so desirable is it's big, beautiful screen. Of course, the logical thing to do is to think about the proper screen protection for it. This gadget definitely needs something to cover iPad screen, since it is very vulnerable to scratches. Purchasing a quality screen protector can also help keep this device from breaking when you are in transit with it. Don't scrimp on this accessory by buying a cheap one, since cheap protectors sometimes do not stick very well on the screen.

3. Don't leave it unattended.
Of course, keeping an eye on your iPad won't directly keep it away from scratches. It will, however, keep your gadget from getting stolen. Never bring it out unless you are going to use it. Otherwise, keep it hidden from others. Leaving it out in the open will just tempt others to take it when you aren't looking. If you really have to leave your iPad in the car, then make sure that it is covered properly and that passers by will not see it.

Tips on Buying LCD TV

LED TVs really give you high definition viewing experience. This is the reason why many people want to own one in their homes. These televisions are perfect for home theaters because they deliver great contrast ratio and real life images which are sometimes more stunning than the original. With this, some people don't know what to look for when buying LED TVs. Here are some tips so you can buy the best television for you.

The first thing that you should consider is your budget. We all know that LED TVs are more costly than other high definition televisions. But this cost can offset the long-term enjoyment that the television can give and the benefits that you can get. So you should research on the price range of the TVs.

The next thing that you should consider is the variety of the TV. In LED TVs, there are two varieties: backlit and edge-lit. Backlit gives higher contrast ratio than the edge-lit because the LEDs are placed at the back of the panel which can be turned on and off independently giving you deep blacks and high brightness. Edge-lit, on the other hand, gives high contrast too but the LEDs are placed along the edges of the panel. The benefit of this is that the television can be slimmer and lighter than the backlit TVs.

You should also consider the manufacturer. Be sure to research on which manufacturer creates better TVs. You should also check the warranty of the television so that in case there are some problems, your money will not be wasted.

CD and DVD Replication

CD and DVD Replication refers to making multiple copies of a CD or DVD from a master copy, producing identical disks with identical information. This is different from CD and DVD duplication, where information is placed onto a disk from a computer or another similar device.

While CD and DVD duplication can be done on most computers, copying the required information onto a disk in the desired format, Replication requires a machine capable of generating multiple copies of CDs in one go, rather than duplicating each CD separately. These Replication machines read the information from the master disc, then write (or 'burn') it straight onto the blank disks. This process can be done by creating a master CD first, or by connecting a computer to the duplication machine, or using a data stick, and Replicating the CDs or DVDs straight from that. This allows for the Replication of CDs that have already been made, for example software CDs, or to Replicate large number of discs even if a master copy hasn't been made yet.

Although there are many different types of CD and DVD Replicating machines companies can buy that can handle varying quantities of Disks at any one time, most companies prefer to out source the Replication of the CDs and DVD to specialist companies. This is generally because most companies do not require the facility that often, and it would not be cost effective to invest in large Replication machines for only a few uses, and the smaller, cheaper Replication machines may take to long to process the quantities of disks when required.

Outsourcing has several benefits for companies who need to replicate CDs and DVDs. Not only can the specialist companies handle large quantities, which can often be many thousands of identical copies of disks, but also the Replication company can deliver the CDs and DVDs to specified locations. Once the disks have been replicated, the ordering companies often don't want the hassle of getting large numbers of disks back and having to process and distribute them, so the Replication company will often, if requested, split the order of replicated CDs into varying quantities and distribute them out to the destinations specified by the ordering company.

DVD and CD Replication companies can also process many different types of information format, and this may be another reason why companies outsource their CD or DVD Replication requirements, as they do not have the equipment to produce the disks with the required data format. The most common types of disks replicated in large numbers are music CDs, film DVDs, software disks of varying data types and image disks.

In the last few years, Replication companies have had to expand their data types to accommodate the new technologies of mp3 format data, blu ray movie formats, high definition (HD) audio and visual data, as well as accommodate the ever expanding computer software formats used by different companies.

Computer Preference, You Decide

If there is one thing that consumers in today's market have a lot of, that is choices. Most of the products that you need are likely to come in a wide variety of brands and kinds. Those looking for computers are not likely to be spared from this difficult decision making process. With all the different choice that we have today, what many of us want to know is whether we should be buying a Desktop, Laptop or Netbook. Here are some things to help you figure out which one is for you exactly.

Desktop

If you are looking something that is fairly affordable and will serve you well, then a desktop is your best bet. Of course, this is given the fact that you do not have a need to take it along with you. For those with families and large businesses this is an ideal buy since you can just put it in your home or company and leave it there. It is also a good choice for people who actually have an office that they can use regularly since it is the most ergonomic of all choices. The Keyboard allows enough room for your arms and hands while typing, plus height isn't really a problem since you use it with a desk and chair. In terms of performance we all know that it can contain all the data and programs that you need because it can easily be expanded with very few limits.

Laptop

For people who are constantly on the go and need to stay connected or those with a limited amount of space a laptop may do the job. Of course we all know that these cost a lot more than desktops but at least many of today's laptops can compete with what desktops offer; although these still cannot top desktops. Many of the laptops today come with webcams, DVD/CD writer and great displays. The battery also gives you the freedom to use this for a few hours without being plugged in. One consideration though with laptops is the difficulty with upgrading and finding replacement parts in case it breaks down. Parts can often be expensive and hard to replace.

Netbook

Others do not understand why they should go for a Netbook instead of a laptop. Well, if you have looked at the price tags then you will know that the latter is definitely more expensive. For those who practically live on airplanes and need to have access to a computer, this is a good solution. It is ultra portable given its size and it performs fairly well. Of course it does not come with frills like a DVD/CD writer and others, but it will get your work done. Plus, a good thing is that you can easily upgrade or expand this without much trouble. One thing that Netbook buyers will have to consider eventually is how long a computer this small will last.

Talk About Greatest Invention

Some of the biggest inventions we've seen to mankind allowed us to connect to anyone around the world, cut travel time from months to hours, and even build things never imagined before. Lets think, the invention of the telephone is quite unimaginable if you've never experienced it before. It literally allows a person in one spot to talk to someone thousands of miles away, in real time. Then there's the airplane, you can fly from one body of land, to another all of which would have taken months in the old days. Then there's the machines, from manufacturing to designing. Using software such as AutoCad to design some of the most complex structures and devices ever created.

So what is the next Greatest Invention? We have a good idea what it will be, but theres no saying how much of an impact it will cause on mankind. Like the computer, or the car, the next invention will revolutionize the way we live. This technology is known as nanotechnology. Technology so small, that it is ten to the negative nine meters small!

Nanotechnology already exists, and its applications are massive. The technology allows one to create things at a much smaller scale, stronger, and even more complex. Everything we own today, nanotechnology can be applied to it to make it a much more durable object. It reinforces the bonds between atoms and creates a more interwebbed atomic structure. Not only does it make things durable, it can work wonders in the medical fields.

This technology is still very in the research and development phase. Scientists and professors around the world are researching the phenomenon. Testing and configuring the atomic structures of carbon in such a strand to create the most efficient way of layering the nano carbon fibers. The more strands they can stick together, the stronger the bond becomes. Not only that, scientists and engineers must determine a way to manufacture their products on a large scale cheaply and efficiently if they ever want to see their inventions come to realtiy. Finding the balance between cost, workability and efficiency is the key to winning in the field of nanotechnology.

In all, nanotechnolgy will emerge in the airplane, computer, car, army, and medical fields the most due to the high demand and potential that it can serve. The race to invent the next greatest nanotechnology is on.

Apple Apps Listed

It's no secret to anyone who knows me or reads this blog that I have a love/hate (but mostly love) relationship with Apple products. I currently own an iPhone, iPod Nano and MacBook Pro. The iPad is on my radar and one of these days I'm going to go all in and get another iMac.

Of all the Apple gadgets I own - frankly of all the gadgets I own period - my iPhone is the most used. It's like a growth; permanently attached to my hand. I eat with it at the table, I sleep with it on my nightstand. Sometimes I even take it in the bathroom with me. Too much information, right? Sorry.

I know that I'm not alone in my obsession. Hubby can't even find fault with this one. I think he might have figured out a way to implant his phone into his arm ( or at least he should).

There are all kinds of websites and magazines one can refer to for suggestions on the best, latest and greatest apps for your iPhone, iPod or iPad, but I've often found many of them too cluttered with apps that are too techie for most people or that are downright useless. Despite the fact that my desk looks like both an office supply and bookstore threw up on it, I like to keep my iPhone organized and practical with only the apps I actually use on a regular basis. Many of these apps have actually saved me time and money. Even the ones that are not free have paid for themselves several times over.

So in the interest of sharing and being a good web citizen, I present to you the best list of apps ever compiled. And just in case you're wondering, with your nosey self, I am not getting paid to endorse any of these (though I wouldn't be opposed to the idea).

I have several great apps I would like to share, so I'll break them down into 2 posts because, if you're like me, you'll lose interest if this thing drags on too long. And for those who have other smartphones like the Droid or Blackberry, don't worry. I believe a lot of these apps (or similar counterparts) are available for you as well.

Bejeweled 2 - It's the only game app I have. I'm not much of a gamer, but I like to have a good stress reliever on hand. I literally can play this game for an hour without blinking. It's also good for making you look busy when you're in a waiting room sitting next to an overly chatty person. Just put your phone on vibrate and get to sliding those jewels around. You'll have the most intense look of concentration on your face. Like you're running a corporation right from your phone. The other people will be thinking, geesh, she's a busy woman.

Moviefone - If you're a movie buff like me, this app will be your best friend. Once you set it up initially with your location, the latest show times and theaters within a 30 mile radius are right at your fingertips. You can also watch trailers and get the latest movie news. Remember those days when we used to look in the newspaper to get the show times? It was the most frustrating thing. Do they still print that information?

CBS Radio - I only have 3 songs downloaded on my phone, so this app works great for me when I'm out and about and have forgotten to pack my iPod. It's great for times when you just want to hear talk radio from other cities around the country instead of hearing the same old rhetoric from your local hosts. I'm not one of those folks whose migrated all of my music from my iPod over to my iPhone. I prefer to keep these separate. I know it would make more sense, and I was actually considering this strongly until I was presented with the best reason in the world to never do this. We had a Memorial Day party at the house and as usual everyone wanted to hear different types of music, so I plugged the audio cable into our stereo system so people could hook up their iPods and share their own playlists. One of our guests was playing the music from his phone. It was a song everyone loved. We were jamming. Hands in the air, arms swaying from side to side, hips gyrating. Then his phone rang and the music stopped. He was this close to being beat down. How embarrassing.

U-verse TV - AT&T U-verse is a lovely creature. Hands down, it's the best cable provider I've ever had. I cannot tell you how many times I've been at work or various other places and remembered a show I wanted to record. Many of these times I've not had a computer with internet connection handy. No worries now. I can get on my phone, pull up my handy U-verse app and with a few clicks, I have my show recorded. I can look at everything that is already on the DVR and delete some things if necessary. Maybe I had already scheduled that show to record? I can look at the scheduled shows to be sure. Genius.

AP Mobile - For news buffs like myself, you never have to be out of the loop. If you're hiding out in a cave and the sky is falling, you'll get a breaking news alert. When you don't feel like playing Bejeweled and you've caught up on all your email, you can read through the latest headlines while sitting in that waiting room trying your best to look busy. Local, national, international, outerspace. It's all at your fingertips.

Sound Recorder Goes Digital

There are so many ways that a digital sound recorder can be of help to you. For students, it can be used to keep a record of the very important lectures for future reference. For researchers, a recorder is necessary to take notes and hold interviews. I can actually give you as many examples of its functions as you want. The main point here is that for any kind of task that you need to take on that needs some kind of recording, you will find that digital sound recorders can make your life easier.

Aside from the advantages mentioned above, these are the most significant benefits that you can get from this device. First of all, a digital sound recorder has the ability to record in almost every audio format. This is good as it can make it easier for you to transfer the files to your computer when you are finished.

Moreover, these digital audio recorders are designed to allow you to make extended hours of recording without the need for you to transfer files. This is very attractive for those who often spend time on the road and therefore has no way to transfer the files to a computer.

If you have decided that you would need a digital sound recorder, then you must keep in mind some things before you make your purchase. It is very important that you ask about the features of the digital audio recorder that you are considering buying. The most ideal feature of an audio recorder is its ability to store longer hours of audio recording without compromising the quality. You have to be cautious of some brands that are so proud to say that their product has enormous memory capacity, but the quality is not even close to being fine.

You would also want your digital audio recorder to be sensitive, but not so much that it also records background sound. The sound recorder that you will want is something that can filter the unnecessary sound so that you can get the clearest possible recording. You will find a lot of brands that offer good sound with sensitive microphone without getting the background noise.

You may also want a digital sound recorder that can be used to record even the conversations held over landline phones or mobile phones. These can prove to be very useful if you need to conduct phone interviews.
