Say Goodbye to Virus

What is a virus and how did I get it?

The word virus has now become synonymous with any unwanted malicious software. The new term now is malware which is short for malicious software. You probably have heard quite a few of the different types of malware out on the internet. There are viruses, spyware, adaware, keyloggers, and lots more. Some range from pretty harmless to potentially dangerous.

New viruses come out everyday, but if you are running updated security software and have updated your windows, you probably don't have to worry about them. Most viruses exploit the bugs or loopholes in software like your internet browser and windows. It is vital to keep updated with the most recent patches as to not be vulnerable against these kinds of attacks. Sometimes you can be tricked into running a virus program or visiting a malicious website. It happens. Sometimes a friend's computer might get infected and then sends out emails to all of their contacts.

What to do

So, time to learn how to get rid of a virus on my laptop computer. Ideally, you would want to stop the virus before it gets on your computer. If you already have the virus on your system then it's critical to remove it as soon as possible to reduce how much damage it can do. Usually most viruses are fairly harmless and just try to inundate you with ads. You really need to get antivirus or security software to scan your computer to fix it. Even if you remove the virus, there can be remnants of it on your computer and the only way to know if you got rid of it is to scan it with an antivirus scanner.

Security software and antivirus is so critical to keeping your computer clean if you browse the internet. When picking a good internet security software, you should go with a trusted name. Another factor is what features it has. The more features, the more protection you receive, but there is also a thing called overhead. Overhead is the computing power needed to run the security software. More overhead means it takes away computing power from what you're really trying to do such as browsing the web or watching a video. If you have a new computer this is probably not that big of a factor.

iPod Changes Your Listening Lifestyle

Just a few short years ago, everybody was still listening to CDs and even tapes. But then the iPod came along and changed everything about how people listen to their music.

The iPod is basically just a music player, albeit a fancy one with the ability to store music digitally. The great thing about this device is that it is so small, you can store it anywhere. Listen to it when you are in a boring business meeting or when you are driving home from a long day of work.

The battery may be one of the most important parts of the iPod. Typically, charging your iPod should take 4-6 hours depending on model and battery size. This can also be less depending on the type of charger you are using.

You want to have a good screen on your iPod as well. The capability to play video clips is no less amazing. And the power to access the Internet is also amazing.

The hard drive is an important spec to check as well. The larger it is, the more music you will be able to take with you. For example, an Apple 8GB iPod nano is capable of holding 2,000 songs or eight hours of video, or a combination of both. It is truly the biggest advantage to owning one of these amazing things.

The iPod generally comes with a pair of earbuds, but you may want regular headphones. If you are able to spend more, you could look at medium-end headphones which are larger than these very small type headphones.

A good pair of headphones will set you out some money, but a basic set isn't much. Another option to consider when choosing headphones are wireless headphones. Wireless headphones cut the headphone cord and afford total freedom of movement.

If you're they type of person you likes to take things apart, you can get a set of tools for dismantling your iPod. If the person who chooses to do a DIY repair is fortunate enough to have a few broken iPods laying around, he can experiment with those, and then try tackling his primary phone.

Music Go Digital

The iPod has literally changed everything about how we listen to music. Thanks to Apple Inc.'s wonderful little tool, everything is more portable and more reliable than ever before.

In its rawest state, the iPod is a portable digital music player. But there is more to it. The product could also be used as a Personal Digital Assistant even with just a little memory. Then there's the game-playing components.

The battery is one area where you don't want to skimp. These batteries are not made to be a user replaceable part but with proper instruction or access to a professional iPod repair shop you can enjoy the benefits of a new iPod battery in no time.

Naturally, the screen is pretty important too. This digital music player has some very innovative features incorporated in it that allow the users to access music as well as video clips and picture files.

And then there is the hard drive. This dictates how much music you can actually store on there. The iPod is about the size of a deck of cards, while the iPod mini is about half that size. In little over a decade they have progressed to the point where they are now capable of storing more than 100 hours worth of music, equivalent to 250 albums.

You'll probably want a pair of earphones as well. Headphones are available in many different styles. The smallest type are in ear, which are plugged into the ear.

Headphones aren't expensive. Most of today's headphones are so-called dynamic headphones. Dynamic refers to the type of transducer that is used. There is no real difference, except for the amount you will spend.

Lastly, if you are someone who is handy with a set of tools, you actually can conduct repairs and mods on your own iPod. The repair process is really quite simple when you're in need to fix iPod. DIY repairs are perfectly fine for a person who has experience and can confidently fix them.

Special Funny Gift Idea

Alright I was searching for something naughty for Jean yesterday. It was actually a last minute shopping for gift since it was way too delayed for her birthday. But then again it's better late than never, right? hahaha!

Just the sad part though the nearby mall here in our place is a not-so-big mall that you can find stuff you'll most likely be interested about or should I say something that will tickle everyone's curiosity. Originally, Rhea and I were planning to buy Jean one of those Adult Sex toys like the one that we're laughing about at the office, the Penis Extenders . It was just so unfortunate of us that we can't find the best store in the city. Perhaps, there is an existing store it's just that we are not aware as to where it is located.

We could have just ordered it through one of the many Online Sex Shops available if it wasn't just too late for a gift for Jean's birthday. Oh well, I just bought her a Girl's night-out poker stack and she super loves it! And we told her about our original gift plan and she was laughing her heart's out. She suggested that the next time we look for it, we could have just search around Quiapo. And our station was filled with laughter last night with a trash talk like that.

Kids' Fashionable Eyewear

Last Saturday when I went to SM, I got curious about the kids I was with on the escalator. They are three Chinese kids wearing eyeglasses. I think they are sisters and the boy was their brother. What I'm curious about is why they all wearing eyeglasses at their young age. Perhaps, it was genetically acquired. It's just a good thing that they were able to get a nice pair of eyeglasses. I'm also wondering if they were able to watch the Zenni Optical on TV!!! because they really got the fashionable type of eyeglasses. If they did, then it must be the $ 8 Rx eyeglasses .

My little boy luckily got healthy eyes so I am not bothered about getting eyeglasses for him. But if I were the mothers out there, I would really recommend to watch the videos of Zenni Optical on TV. They will surely love to purchase a pair of eyeglasses for their children that are not just affordable, but also fashionable. They might can't help it to make High Five to Zenni Optical !

New Must Have Gadgets For Year 2009

We can have a recession and we can have a credit crunch, we can lose our jobs and our homes but despite all this, there will always be a market for gadgets that seem pretty pointless to many but are the must-haves of other people's lives. Inventors make their living from product design and not all of it is useful - some of it is and some of it is just... stuff.

At the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the 2009 range of useless toot - sorry, fancy gadgets - have been displayed. 3D televisions from Sony and Panasonic will give you something to do while you're out of work - dodging the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park or Angelina Jolie's legs flying through Tomb Raider. It's just a pity you can't get away with not wearing the idiot 3D glasses while you watch it.

3D Playstation 3's were on show along with 3D games like car racing.

Product design is also about to bring us glasses that show films on the inside as demonstrated at the show. Watching a film from inside your glasses means that you will you be able to watch them anywhere - at work, on the bus, at the mother in law's etc. Think of the advantages to this one!

An organic light emitting diode, or OLED, was also demonstrated in the form of a hand-sized flexible colour screen. How did any of us ever get by without a flexible screen to hand?

The show's hottest product design was said to be the Pre - Palm's latest cell phone handset to rival Apple's iPhone complete with touch screen and qwerty keyboard. A camera, wi-fi and GPS are also on the phone. In typical James Bond style there is also a wristwatch that doubles up as a phone.

Product design ahs also bought us such useful gadgets as the WooWee Spyball should we want to randomly spy on people, a cell phone that can project video and pictures onto a larger screen and a USB on a flexicord that doesn't get tangled. Far be it from me to say so, but these all seem like a waste of money!

That said, the show has highlighted some things for which an application would be worth finding. We have the semi-transparent AMOLED screen which will be used for making 'heads-up' displays in cars and a mobile phone with a foldable AMOLED screen meaning that you can achieve a much better display.

From a purely girly point of view product design has brought us some revolutionary items that will make our lives undoubtedly easier. Eye drops are now on the market that will cause our eye lashes to grow longer and thicker. Now I like the sound of this one!

For those who hate early mornings there is the robot that serves you breakfast and for those with allergies there is a fake cat. Apparently, it comes with all the de-stressing benefits of having a pet but without the mess and allergens.

So, it would seem it makes no difference that it makes no difference how little spare money there is floating around in the world or how rubbish some ideas are, there will always be a market for trivia.

New Gadgets to Watch Out For in 2009

One thing can be said for sure about gadget lovers, they're always looking towards what new gadgets and technologies lie ahead. They're always in search of what's newer, thinner, sleeker, faster... and more bizarre. And, now that we're about ready to bring 2008 to a close, manufacturers are beginning to unveil some of the cool gadgetry we can look forward to seeing in 2009.

T-Mobile, Motorola, Using Android OS On Mobile Phones
More advanced gadget lovers who thrive on virtual social interaction will appreciate the new Android Operating System that has been adopted by T-Mobile earlier this year. And, now it looks as though Motorola may incorporate it into their mobile phones in the upcoming year, as well.

According to an excerpt from BusinessWeek, the idea behind Motorola evolving to the new google-backed operating system, is to make their phones part of a new class of smartphones, which enable users to access social networks like Facebook and MySpace.

Napkin PC
It is said that many a great idea was born on a napkin. So Industrial Designer, Avery Holleman, developed the Napkin PC. The Napkin PC is a cool concept that uses a base station - disguised as a napkin holder - with seven different stylus pens that allows multiple users to scribble their ideas down on individual "napkins" that ultimately interface with the base station.

It's definitely an idea that has got creative types and businessmen thinking "outside the box". The concept allows users to not have to limit their creativity to in front of a PC screen. The "napkins" employ full color e-paper and multi-touch technology.

The napkins can hold the image drawn on it indefinitely, or until it's cleared off by the user. Which means you can hang it up, or share it with your coworkers at your next meeting.
The Napkin PC took first place Judge's Award and Chairman's Award in NextGen's PC Design Competition.

Nokia Aeon
The Nokia Aeon cell phone is still in the research and development phase of its life, but gadget junkies the world over are already "wowing" over the full touch screen. Nokia is keeping all other details under wraps due to competitive pressure.

B-Membrane Computer
We may not see the B-Membrane concept computer for some time, but it's certainly worth mentioning just in case. The B-Membrane computer is a unique take on a laptop/desktop computer.

Korean designer Won-Seok Lee created his B-Membrane computer to look like no other. Indeed, it is about the size of a large round platter, and boasts an omni-directional projector, rather than a monitor. A keyboard appears on the membrane of the computer's surface when needed.

When not being used as a computer, Lee's design can be used to create a relaxing ambience using a variety of light effects through its projector.

Microsoft Arc Mouse
The Microsoft Arc Mouse is a handy little device that serves as both a desktop mouse and a laptop mouse, depending upon if you have it extended to its full length or folded.
The mouse uses Microsoft's BlueTrack Laser Technology, and has a wireless range of up to 30 feet. It offers four customizable buttons, Tilt Wheel Technology, and comes in red or black.

This is a neat, money-saving concept. You can purchase this from Microsoft for $59.95.

Asus EEE Notebook With Touch Screen
The Asus EEE notebook computer is truly an awesome gadget for the college student, or business traveler who just needs to access basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. You know, it's rather like an electronic notebook of sorts.
Its small profile is not much bigger than a regular book, and can easily slip inside your purse or briefcase. But what's really cool about this gadget, is the manufacturer offers a touch screen option with this computer. While it does come with a stylus, many users find that they're perfectly comfortable simply using their fingers to move pages and open programs.

Asus has also released a more powerful desktop version of their EEE computer with touch screen capabilities.Check out the Asus EEE PC now.

Schwinn Electric Tailwind Bicycle

In these tough economic times, when everyone is searching for cheaper ways to commute, comes the Schwinn Electric Tailwind Bicycle expected to hit the market in early 2009.While it certainly resembles a traditional bicycle, the Schwinn Electric Tailwind, dubbed e-bike, packs a lot more punch. Essentially, Schwinn joined forces with Toshiba to create a hybrid bicycle.

Schwinn uses a Toshiba Super Charge lithium-ion phosphate battery to help propel this bike down the road, giving you the option of pedaling yourself, or offering you adjustable pedal assistance if needed.Toshiba's battery charges in just 30 minutes, and can be recharged about 3000 times before it needs to be replaced. The battery slips discretely in the luggage rack, and off you go.

Visit Schwinn Tailwind to take a look at this really cool set of wheels. You'll be able to get yours for about $3,200.

Test Tube Hamburger
And, while this next item is not actually a gadget you can put your hands on, it seems that it may be something you'll be able to sink your teeth into in the upcoming year.Back in 2006, stories were circulating about test tube hamburger. Yep... scientists believed that they could make enough fake meat from one stem cell to feed a million people for one year. Their goal was to have it on people's tables by 2009.

People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and fellow vegetarians, of course, are thrilled with the prospect of the lives of thousands of cows being spared by this in vitro beef. In fact, PETA is said to have offered a $1 million reward to the first scientist to produce and market in vitro meat.

While it may sound questionable to some, the in vitro beef expected in 2009 is said to look, smell, and taste just like the real thing. Real, on the hoof, beefeaters may be skeptical, but meat created like this might give vegetarians a reason to say "where's the beef?"
